Ezequiel Lavezzi Scores An Amazing Goal (Video)

Italian soccer is often criticized for its defensive focus and lack of offensive creativity.  However, during yesterday’s game between Napoli and AC Milan, Ezequiel Lavezzi silenced many of those critics with what may be the most creative goal we will see this season in European club competition.

Trailing 2-0 and down a man, Napoli was desperate for goals, so when Lavezzi found himself on the ground in front of the AC Milan net with the ball at his feet, he knew he had to think quick and find a way to get the ball beyond the onrushing keeper and across the goal line.  A flick of the foot would allow him to do just that as he chipped the ball over the head of Christian Abbiati, off the cross bar and in.

Unfortunately, it was not enough to help Napoli mount the improbable comeback, but that likely will not prevent this goal from reaching highlight reels throughout Europe and around the world.
