The Stat Line of the Night — 11/7/10 — Philip Rivers
The Stat Line of the Night — Terrell Owens — 11/8/10
Going into last night’s game, little was expected from the Cincinnati Bengals offense as they faced the difficult task of taking on the Steelers and their league-best scoring defense. And while Troy Polamalu, James Harrison and the rest of the Steelers’ defensive players were able to contain the likes of Chad Ochocinco, Cedric Benson and Jordan Shipley, they had no answer to Terrell Owens.
Owens went off in front of a prime time audience, recording an impressive 10 receptions for 141 yards and two touchdowns. His incredible effort included a key touchdown in the back of the end zone early in the fourth quarter, and he also drew a pass interference call later on in the final quarter, which helped set up a one-yard touchdown run by Benson. Those two scores helped the Bengals make things interesting as they crawled to within six points and had one last chance to mount the improbable comeback during the final minutes, but came up just short.
However, one player who did anything but come up short on Monday night was Terrell Owens. Despite his team losing the game by a score of 27-21, he still earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Monday, November 8, 2010.
