NCAA College Football Pick’em: Week 11
After stringing together a few successful weeks in a row, I guess we were due for a letdown at some point. While Oregon once again came through for us, the Crimson Tide did not as they lost their second game of the season to a stingy LSU team. As for the Boise State vs. Hawaii match-up, the Broncos did their part to put the game over the total, but the Warriors unfortunately couldn’t do theirs.
As a result, we were left with a disappointing, but not crushing 1-2 week 10 record. That leaves us at 15-11-1 on the season, as we look to bounce back in week 11. Here is a look at our picks.
Game: San Diego State at (3) TCU
Spread: TCU -27
Reason: The TCU Horned Frogs faced their toughest challenge of the season last week and passed it with flying colors as they beat then-No. 6 Utah on the road, 47-7. If they can beat a ranked team like Utah by 40 points away from home. Just image what they can do against an unranked San Diego State team within the friendly confines of Amon Carter Stadium. With a spot in the BCS title game in their sights, look for TCU to not only win, but win big as they will want to make a statement for both the voters, and the BCS computers.
Game: Georgia @ (2) Auburn
Spread: Auburn -7.5
Reason: Some people seem to think that the Georgia Bulldogs have what it takes to hang in there with the Auburn Tigers. Others believe that the recent controversy surrounding Cam Newton may take him off his game. I don’t believe either of these theories. The Tigers may be ranked second in the nation, but with a quarterback like Newton leading their charge, it isn’t tough to make a case for them as the nation’s best team right now. Their offense has been unstoppable, ranking 6th in the nation in total yards and 7th in points scored. As for the Bulldogs, they have struggled on the road, winning only one of four away from home. We don’t expect them to get their second win on the road in Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday as the Tigers should come away with the win, and the cover.
Game: USC at (18) Arizona
Spread: Over/Under 59.5
Reason: USC currently holds the nation’s 14th ranked total offense with 470.8 ypg, and the 14th ranked scoring offense, averaging an impressive 36.4 points per game. However, their defense has been a huge disappointment, ranking 97th in total defense and 76th in scoring defense, allowing 423.9 yards and 28.4 points against per game. As for Arizona, they have been impressive on offense as well, scoring an average of 30.9 points per game. After sitting out two weeks with an injury, Wildcats quarterback Nick Foles struggled against Stanford, but he should be much sharper this week as we expect a high scoring affair between these two high-octane offenses on Saturday night.
Current Record: 15-11-1 (Last Week: 1-2)
