Picture Of The Day: He Must Have Lost A Bet
2010 NFL Weekly Locks: Week 10
Our picks took another shot on the chin in week 9. When betting on football, it is never a good idea to put your money on the road favorites. We did just that not once, but twice, and it back-fired as both the Jets and the Patriots were unable to cover their respective spreads. The Dolphins also disappointed against the Ravens, while the only bright spot of the weekend came on Sunday night when the Packers blew out the lackluster Cowboys.
Another 1-3 week now leaves us at 14-21-1 on the season. We are currently stuck in a rut, but there does appear to be a light at the end of this dark tunnel. Hopefully we can reach that light this weekend.
Here is a look at our TotalProSports.com 2010 NFL Weekly Locks for week ten.
The Game: Detroit Lions @ Buffalo Bills
The Pick: Bills -2.5
The Reason: The Lions have yet to win a game on the road and the Bills have yet to win anywhere this season. Something has got to give on Sunday at Ralph Wilson Stadium, and we believe it will be the Bills coming away with their first win of the 2010 season. Buffalo has been able to hang tough against the Ravens, Chiefs and Bears in the last three weeks. With Ryan Fitzpatrick playing well, look for him and receiver Steve Johnson to take advantage of a weak Lions pass defense as the Bills use their home-field advantage, and a Matthew Stafford injury, to squeeze out a win on Sunday.
The Game: Carolina Panthers @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Pick: Bucs -6.5
The Reason: When the Bucs traveled to Carolina in week 2, they were able to come away with a 20-7 victory. Both teams have headed in opposite directions since then, with the Bucs putting together a 5-3 record while the Panthers sit last in the NFC South at 1-7. To make matters worse, Carolina will have to go back to rookie Jimmy Clausen at quarterback after Matt Moore was placed on season ending IR. Through six games, and three starts, Clausen has recorded only one touchdown and four interceptions. Look for him and the Panthers to continue to struggle as the Bucs should win this week ten match-up with ease.
The Game: Dallas Cowboys @ New York Giants
The Pick: Over 45.5
The Reason: In their last three meetings, the Giants and Cowboys have put up totals of 76, 55 and 64 points. It seems like every time these two teams meet, a shootout breaks out. Even during their week 7 meeting, when Jon Kitna came in for an injured Tony Romo, the scoring didn’t stop as both teams combined to put up 32 points in the second half. With the Cowboys giving up an incredible amount of passing touchdowns as of late (11 in their last three games), look for Eli Manning and company to do most of the damage, while the Cowboys should be able to put up some garbage-time numbers to take care of the remaining points that may be needed to cover the 45.5-point total.
Game: San Francisco 49ers @ St. Louis Rams
Pick: 49ers -6
Reason: The 49ers have had themselves quite the disappointing season thus far, but with a 2-2 home record and wins in two of their last three, they should be able to continue their strong run in week 10 when they host the St. Louis Rams. Had it not been for an Alex Smith injury, and a costly David Carr turnover late in their week seven game against the Panthers, the 49ers would likely be on a three game winning streak, and well rested coming off a bye week. As for the Rams, they have struggled on the road, going 0-3. Look for their struggles to continue this weekend as the 49ers should come away with a crucial win, and the cover.
Overall Record: 14-21-1 (Last Week’s Record: 1-3)
