Matt Carkner Flicks Blood At Rangers Bench Following Fight (Video)
The Ottawa Senators enforcer Matt Carkner may have set a new precedent following a fight with Derek Boogaard late in the first period of last night’s game against the New York Rangers. After going to the ground, Carkner rose to his feet and with blood streaming down his face he skated by the Rangers’ bench and appeared to flick some of that blood in the direction of their players.
The disgusting act earned Carkner a ten-minute misconduct as well as a 5-minute major for fighting. And although this has not been confirmed, I am willing to bet that it is the first penalty ever handed out to a player for flicking blood towards the opposition’s bench.
