Pens’ Jordan Staal Sucker Punches Rangers’ Brandon Prust (Video)

by: JamieD On  Wednesday, February 2, 2011

After watching his brothers, Eric and Marc, play together on the same team at the All-Star Game this past weekend, Jordan Staal may have felt somewhat neglected.  Perhaps he was thinking that the whole league would forget about the third Staal brother playing in the NHL, so he decided to do something that would get the attention back on him.  Unfortunately for the New York Rangers’ Brandon Prust, that meant being on the receiving end of a sucker punch to the face from the Pens’ forward.

The Penguins are already playing without superstars Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, and now they will be without Staal for a game as he was assessed a match penalty for delivering a nasty left cross to the jaw of Prust, knocking him to the ice like a ton of bricks.  Staal received an automatic one-game suspension for the match penalty and the league has since decided that no further action will be taken.

For those of you who forgot about him, here is a look at the punch that has reminded us of the existence of the NHL’s third Staal brother.
