Picture Of The Day: Stupid Sexy Flanders
Having recorded more man-games lost due to injury than any other team in the league, the New York Islanders felt their opposition had been taking liberties on them for far too long. As a result, they decided to fight back, beginning with their epic brawl-filled game against the Pittsburgh Penguins less than a month ago. Since then, the Islanders’ tough guys have made it their mission to step in and stick up for any teammate they feel has been victimized by a dirty hit.
The Isles Justin DiBenedetto was the victim of two of those hits last night. The first resulted in a Trevor Gillies game misconduct for hitting Cal Clutterbuck of the Minnesota Wild from behind in retaliation. As for the second, it led to a bout between the Isles’ Zenon Konopka and the Wild’s Brad Staubitz, which earns our “Frozen Fisticuffs Fight of the Night” for Wednesday, March 2, 2011.
