The Habs’ Desharnais Takes A Check From A Ref (Video)

After witnessing the Montreal Canadiens get beat up by the Boston Bruins during their last meeting, most NHL fans believed the Habs needed to acquire some size and toughness at the NHL trade deadline if they hope to succeed in the playoffs.

The Habs remained quiet at the deadline, and now even the referees appear to be picking on them.

Just one day after the trade deadline had passed, it was referee Dan O’Halloran sending a message to the smaller Canadiens, as he laid out David Desharnais with a stiff two-handed push that sent the 5’7, 24-year-old forward to the ice in a heap.

If he can’t take a hit from a 5’8 referee, what is Desharnais going to do when he runs into a 6’4 Milan Lucic?
