VCU Coach Shaka Smart Does The “Ironman Drill” (Video)

One of the main reasons why the Virginia Commonwealth Rams had such a successful NCAA Tournament run was because of their willingness to give it all they’ve got and put their bodies on the line, whether it be while taking a charge or chasing down a loose ball.  So after watching his players do it time and time again during both games and practices all season, VCU coach Shaka Smart decided to show his gratitude prior to their Final Four match against Butler on Saturday by taking part in the dreaded “Ironman drill.”

Unfortunately for Shaka and his Rams, this would be the last highlight that they provided during their wonderful tournament run, as the clock struck midnight on Saturday when they lost to the Butler Bulldogs by a score of 70-62.

Despite falling just short, we should still credit the VCU players for giving it all they had until the very end.  Judging by the video below, it isn’t hard to see where they learned that from.
