And Your Frozen Fisticuffs Fight Of The Year Is…Cam Janssen! (Video)
There was certainly no shortage of entertaining fights in the NHL this season, making it incredibly hard for us to decide who was worthy of our “Frozen Fisticuffs Fighter of the Year” award. Enforcers like the Anaheim Ducks’ George Parros, the Columbus Blue Jackets’ Jared Boll, the New York Islanders’ Zenon Konopka and the Los Angeles Kings’ Kyle Clifford provided us with plenty of action-packed bouts throughout the 2010-11 campaign, but when it comes to thrilling fights, no one does it quite like the St. Louis Blues’ Cam Janssen.
I have said it before, and I will say it again. Whenever Janssen drops the gloves, you better not be in a rush to go anywhere, because you know you are getting at least 60 seconds of action from him, if not more. His willingness to hang in there for as long as he can and throw punches the entire way was enough to earn Janssen honors as the “Frozen Fisticuffs Fighter of the Year.”
Here is another look at his epic bout with the Jackets’ Jared Boll. Check back tomorrow for our list of this season’s best fights. You can expect to see this one somewhere on there.
