Check Out Von Wafer’s Embarrassing Missed Dunk And Ensuing Celebration (Video)

If a loss to the Washington Wizards right before the playoffs begin wasn’t embarrassing enough for the Boston Celtics, this play during overtime could be the icing on the cake.

With Paul Pierce, Rajon Rondo, Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett all in street clothes for last night’s game, the likes of Von Wafer and Jermaine O’Neil were called upon to step up for the Celtics.  But rather than get the job done, all they did was assure themselves that they would never see the floor in a clutch situation again.

With three minutes remaining in overtime and the Celtics up by two points, Von Wafer drove to the hole, only to have his dunk attempt ricochet off the rim and into the hand of teammate Jermaine O’Neil.  Despite the embarrassing miss, Wafer still thought it would be a good idea to celebrate his gaffe, before running into O’Neil and causing the double-dribble.

This play definitely gets my vote for lowlight of the year.
