God’s Gift Achiuwa Will Descend Upon St. John’s Next Season
The St. John’s Red Storm men’s basketball team received a gift from God today when 6’9 juco All-American power forward God’s Gift Achiuwa committed to them earlier today. God’s Gift (yes that is his real name) averaged 22.3 points, 13.1 rebounds and 2.2 blocks with Erie (N.Y.) Community College last season.
A native of Nigeria, God’s Gift is the son of a minister who seems to have a knack for giving his children incredibly cool names. His three brothers were named Precious, Promise and God’s Will, and his two sisters go by Grace and Peace.
God’s Gift is the ninth player to commit to the Red Storm for next season. They currelty have the third-ranked recruiting class according to ESPN Insider’s top 25, but if we assume that God’s Gift will live up to his name, St. John’s ranking could easily rise to the number one spot.
