Kevin Bieksa Wants “Shots Shots Shots Shots Shots Shots” (Video)
The Vancouver Canucks entered Game 6 in Nashville last night needing a win to end their second-round series and move onto the Western Conference Finals for the first time since 1994. They held a 2-1 lead after two periods, but with only nine shots on goal at that point, and an embarrassing total of two in the second period, Kevin Bieksa’s strategy heading into the third was simple:
“Shots, Shots, Shots, Shots, Shots, Shots”
It sounds like Lil’ Jon was in the Canucks dressing room providing them with the game plan during the second intermission, and it seemed to work, as they surpassed their two-period total in the third with 10 shots on Pekke Rinne. None of those shots would turn into goals, but Vancouver didn’t allow the Predators to score any of their own, as they held on for the 2-1 win and the 4-2 series victory.
Here is a look at Kevin Bieksa’s interview with CBC’s Scott Oake during the second intermission.
And here is what we are assuming the Canucks’ second intermission pep talk sounded like.
