The Stat Line Of The Night — 6/2/11 — Aubrey Huff

I know that hitting three home runs in a single game is not an easy thing to do, but Major League batters have been making it seem that way recently.  Carlos Beltran, Jose Bautista, Jason Giambi, Corey Hart and Carlos Quentin had all accomplished the feat heading into yesterday’s slate of games.

You can now add the Giants’ Aubrey Huff to that list.

With Buster Posey out, someone needed to step up for the Giants at the plate.  Last night that someone was Huff, as he hit a home run in the fourth, seventh and ninth inning during San Francisco’s 12-7 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals.  Huff also had a single, as he went 4-for-5 at the plate, with three runs scored and six RBIs.

The win, coupled with a Diamondbacks loss, moved the Giants back into sole possession of first place in the NL West.  They have Huff’s bat to thank, as he earns our “Stat Line of the Night” for Thursday, June 2, 2011.
