The Daily Gambling Fix 6/28/11 — Caitlin
The Game: Florida Marlins @ Oakland Athletics
The Reason: The Marlins have gone under in six of their last seven, while the A’s have gone under in each of their last 5. Oakland has scored only eight runs in their last five games, scoring over two runs in just one of those games. Gio Gonzalez will be on the mound for the A’s and he has an ERA of 1.01 in his last four interleague starts. As for Marlins’ starter Javier Vazquez, he has struggled this season but has a 2.46 ERA in his last fours starts against Oakland. With both teams averaging well under four runs per game, look for this game to go under the total.
The Game: San Francisco Giants @ Chicago Cubs (GAME 1, 2:20 pm ET)
The Reason: The Giants have won their last five in a row, while the Cubs have lost four of their last six. San Fran has won five of the last seven between these two teams, and they send Ryan Vogelsong to the mound. He is 5-1 on the season with a 1.99 ERA. He will be facing off against the Cubs Doug Davis, who is 1-6 on the season with a 5.01 ERA. These two pitchers squared off on May 14, and the Giants came out on top, 3-0. The Giants have also dominated lefties this season, winning 15 of their 20 games against left-handed starters. Look for them to get another win against a lefty today.
2011 Record: (124-112-5), This Week: (1-1), Last Week: (7-3)
