Tribue Show For “Macho Man” Randy Savage Was An Absolute Disaster
A tribute show for the “Macho Man” Randy Savage was held just outside Tampa, Florida, at Port Richey’s All Sports Arena on Saturday night. In addition to paying homage to the former WWF Champion, the event was also supposed to benefit the All Children’s Hospital and St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, with all proceeds said to be going to the two local health care institutions. However, the only ones who ended up benefiting from the event were the promoters.
According to reports, neither of the hospitals knew of the fundraiser, nor did they agree to take part in it or receive any money for it. And that wasn’t the only issue.
Eight wrestlers were used to promote the event, but only half showed up, with the other half claiming that they never agreed to take part. Those who did show up, along with the band, were not paid, and when the wrestlers and fans began to revolt, promoter Dino Puglia claimed he was having a cardiac emergency and took off with the money midway through the event.
Here is Bomani Jones talking about the event on his show.
