Crashes have become a common theme during the 2011 Tour de France. Johnny Hoogerland’s run-in with a barbed wire fence appeared to be the most grueling, until stage 14 on Saturday, which saw Team Rabobank rider Laurens ten Dam veer off the road before flipping over the front of his bike and landing face first onto the grass.
Surprisingly, he was able to finish the race after receiving some mummification work to his face. Here is another look at the crash.
