The Stat Line Of The Night — 7/18/11 — Josh Collmenter
After starting the season with a 4-1 record, Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Josh Collmenter has fallen on hard times, losing his last four decision heading into last night’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers. His last start came against that very same Brewers team, and despite pitching six shutout innings he couldn’t snap his losing streak, coming away with the no decision during a 3-1 loss. He was looking to avoid having the same thing happen last night, and he did just that.
This time Collmenter went eight solid innings, allowing only three hits, no walks and no runs against, while striking out seven batters. He would also receive some run support, as the Diamondbacks batters recorded three runs and closer David Hernandez came in to finish off the Brewers in the ninth and lock down Collmenter’s first win since June 3rd.
The win bumps Collmenter’s record to 5-5 and it also earns him “The Stat Line of the Night” for Monday, July 18, 2011.
