The Daily Gambling Fix 8/3/11 — Lucia Tovar
The Game: Texas Rangers @ Detroit Tigers
The Reason: The Tigers enter tonight’s game having won five of their last six against the Rangers, while Texas has lost five of their last six games on the road. Doug Fister will get his first start with the Tigers. He has a 3.33 ERA, but a lack of run support while playing with the Mariners has resulted in a terrible 3-12 record. He should get plenty of run support with the Tigers, who average 4.5 runs per game. As for Rangers starter Matt Harrison, his team has won in each of his last five starts, but he has yet to beat the Tigers in four career starts against them. Look for Detroit to continue their winning ways against Harrison and the Rangers tonight at Comerica Park.
The Game: Oakland A’s @ Seattle Mariners
The Reason: Two of the league’s lowest scoring teams will square off tonight in Seattle when the Mariners take on the A’s. The Mariners average a league-worst 3.31 runs per game, while the A’s average 3.83 runs per game. A’s starter Gio Gonzalez has been roughed up in his last two starts, but he’s been dominant against the Mariners in his last four starts against them, allowing only seven runs against in 27 2/3 innings. Look for both team’s bats to remain silent tonight as this game goes under the total.
2011 Record: (150-132-8), This Week: (3-1), Last Week: (2-7)
