5-Year-Old Wins Under-19 Basketball Title (Video)
When Maine’s Under-19 MB Nation squad won the AAU 19U Nationals boys basketball tournament, the biggest story surrounding their victory was the one player on their roster with the least amount of playing time. That player was 5-year-old Reese Woodbury, son of MB Nation’s coach, Mike Woodbury.
Despite his age, Reese was a key figure on MB Nation’s third-and-fourth grade team, and he was on the official roster for their Under-19 team as well. And for those of you who are thinking to yourself, “It doesn’t mean anything if he doesn’t actually play,” you might be interested to hear that Reese did play minutes in a few of MB Nation’s U19 games, including their 77-38 quarterfinals victory.
If you find it hard to believe that a 5-year-old can play with 17 and 18 year olds, you may want to take a look at the video below. It will probably change your mind.
