The Stat Line Of The Night — 8/7/11 — Jake Peavy
Heading into yesterday afternoon’s game against the Minnesota Twins, Chicago White Sox starter Jake Peavy hadn’t earned a victory since June 25th. After going 0-4 in his last six starts since then, he was looking to put an end to his losing streak and begin a winning streak of his own, and he did just that thanks to a stellar performance on the mound.
Peavy stifled the Twins batters throughout the day, allowing only three hits, no walks and no earned runs while striking out six through eight innings of work. He would hand reliever Matt Thornton a 7-0 lead in the ninth and the White Sox reliever would ensure the score would stay that way, earning Peavy his first win in over a month, as well as the “Stat Line of the Night” for Sunday, August 7, 2011.
