The Daily Gambling Fix 8/11/11 — Alice Goodwin
The Game: Milwaukee Brewers @ St. Louis Cardinals
The Reason: The Brewers have won their last six in a row and seven of their last eight against the St. Louis Cardinals. Brewers starter Yovani Gallardo pitched eight innings of one-hit ball in his only start against the Cards this season. Cards starter Chris Carpenter has lost his last four starts against the Brewers, allowing at least five runs against in each of those games without ever going further than six innings. Look for the Brewers to continue their dominance over Carpenter and the Cards as they come away with the win tonight.
The Game: Detroit Tigers @ Cleveland Indians
The Reason: The total has gone under in five of the Tigers’ last six games overall, and nine of the Indians’ last eleven games at home. Detroit sends Justin Verlander and his 2.30 ERA to the mound tonight. In his only start against the Indians this season, he pitched a complete-game two-hit shutout. As for Cleveland starter, Francisco Carmona, he has not allowed more than three earned runs against in his last five starts against the Tigers. Look for a pitcher’s duo to unfold in Cleveland tonight as this game goes under the total.
2011 Record: (158-136-8), This Week: (3-3), Last Week: (8-2)
