Rockies’ Third Base Coach Takes A Ball In The Face During BP (Video)
Those of you who tuned in last night to watch the pre-game show for ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball game between the Colorado Rockies and the St. Louis Cardinals were treated to more than just Bobby Valentine’s analysis of both teams. Those who weren’t distracted by Valentine’s discussion regarding the Cards inability to string together a lengthy winning streak may have noticed Rockies’ third base coach Rich Dauer getting drilled in the face by a throw from Chris Nelson during batting practice.
Dauer hit the ground immediately and was bleeding profusely from the face, although Nelson didn’t seem to concerned about rushing over to help his fallen coach. The Rockies’ second basemen didn’t end up playing in last night’s game against the Cards, and I think I know why.
Here are two looks at the incident.
