Right Fielder Jeff Francoeur Throws Out Michael Taylor At First (Video)

by: JamieD On  Thursday, September 8, 2011

Jogging lackadaisically to first base on a line drive to right field may not be such a big deal in the Minors, but that type of effort simply will not cut it in the Majors.  Especially when Jeff Francoeur is manning the green grass in right field.  Oakland A’s rookie Michael Taylor learned that lesson the hard way in only his third Major League start, as he was gunned down by Francoeur at first base following what should have been a line drive single to right field.

Oddly enough, Taylor would end up recording a single on a ground ball to Royals second baseman Johnny Giavotella in the bottom of the sixth inning.  Go figure.

Here is a look at Francoeur throwing out Taylor at first.
