Stat Line Of The Night — 9/5/11 — Zach Stewart
Stat Line Of The Night — 9/7/11 — Guillermo Moscoso
For the second time in the last three days, a Major League pitcher took a no-hitter into the eighth innings, and for the second time in three days they couldn’t hold on through the final two innings. However, that didn’t stop us from awarding the White Sox Zach Stewart with “The Stat Line of the Night” for Monday, and it certainly will not stop us from bestowing such honors upon Oakland A’s starter Guillermo Moscoso for his performance last night.
With two outs in the eighth inning of last night’s game against the Kansas City Roayls, Moscoso had only allowed one base runner, via a walk in the sixth. Unfortunately for him, he couldn’t hold on for the final four outs, as Salvador Perez singled on a line drive to right field. After getting two outs in the ninth, Moscoso allowed another single, and a throwing error by third baseman Scott Sizemore put runners on second and third, causing the A’s coaching staff to pull him from the game. It turned out to be the right decision, as Fautino De Los Santos recorded the final out, preserving the 7-0 victory, as well as Moscoso’s “Stat Line of the Night” for Wednesday, September 7, 2011.
