Stat Line Of The Night — 9/12/11 — Tom Brady

As good as Aaron Rodgers looked during Thursday’s season opener, he still only looks like the second best quarterback in the NFL following the performance we were treated to from Tom Brady during the Patriots’ Monday night romp over the Miami Dolphins.  But rather than simply provide you with Brady’s numbers from last night and tell you that he earns our “Stat Line of the Night,” I will use my fantasy football team as an example of how great a performance Brady put forth last night.

One of my many fantasy football teams entered last night’s game trailing by 69 points with only Tom Brady and Wes Welker left to play.  I knew (at least I thought I knew) that there was no way I would come back, but after every Tom Brady touchdown I would use my Yahoo! Fantasy Football app to check out my score in that league, until I realized that I was only approximately 25 points behind my opponent.  And then came Brady’s 99-yard touchdown pass to Wes Welker, which gave me just enough points to take a one-point lead, and that one-point lead would stand, giving me the most improbable week one victory of my fantasy career.

Now, back to Brady, who threw for an incredible 517 yards and four touchdowns, earning him the “Stat Line of the Night” for Monday, September 12, 2011.
