At this time last season it appeared as though soccer was experiencing an epidemic of players delivering flying kung-fu kicks on their opponents, however, it feels as though it has been quite a while since we last saw a footballer execute a one of these dangerous challenges. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about the vicious flying knee, which made its return during yesterday’s Ligue 1 action in France, as Bordeaux midfielder Ben Khalfallah was on the receiving end of a knee from Lille goalkeeper Mickael Landreau.
Landreau’s careless challenge earned him a yellow card and gave Bordeaux a penalty kick, but Khalfallah’s sacrifice would be all for naught, as his team would miss the kick and settle for a 1-1 draw.
