Umpire Gary Cederstrom Loses Track Of The Count, Makes A Phone Call (Video)

by: JamieD On  Wednesday, September 28, 2011

Gary CederstromWas it a 3-2 count?  Or a 2-2 count?

That was the question home plate umpire Gary Cederstrom was left asking himself during Adam Dunn’s at bat last night.  Unfortunately, he couldn’t find the answer on his own, so he had to make a few phone calls, bringing an already slow and meaningless game between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Chicago White Sox to an abrupt halt for several minutes.

After searching long and hard for an answer, Gary would finally emerge from the White Sox dugout and assure everyone that there was in fact three balls and two strikes to Dunn.  But it wouldn’t make much of a difference, as Dunn would foul the next pitch off, before finally striking out.

Here is a look at all of the confusion.
