The Daily Gambling Fix 10/5/11 — Suelynn
The Game: Philadelphia Phillies @ St. Louis Cardinals
The Reason: While we do believe the Phillies will win this series, we don’t believe it will happen tonight. Cards’ starter Edwin Jackson has been the team’s best pitcher since late July, allowing two or less earned runs in nine of his twelve starts since then, while pitching at least six innings in 10 of his last 12 starts. The Cards will be fired up in front of their own crowd as they look to stay alive, and we expect them to do just that, as they come away with the victory.
The Game: Milwaukee Brewers @ Arizona Diamondbacks
The Reason: This is a tough game to pick, as the Diamondbacks have been a tough team to beat at home all season, but the Brewers have had success in Arizona, winning 8 of their last 11 games at Chase Field. Both starting pitchers have struggled against the opposition, and if this turns into a high-scoring affair, we like the Brewers’ bats to come out on top tonight.
2011 Record: (187-170-9), This Week: (1-3), Last Week: (5-4)
