Stat Line Of The Night — 10/4/11 — Adrian Beltre
Stat Line Of The Night — 10/5/11 — David Freese
The Cardinals entered last night’s game in need of a victory if they wanted their magical run to continue. Beating the Phillies is no simple task, but David Freese would make it look awfully easy with his impressive performance at the plate.
Freese had only three at bats on the night, but he made the most of them, recording a two-run double in the fourth inning before driving a 1-0 pitch over the center field wall in the bottom of the sixth inning. That two-run homer would give the Cardinals the 5-3 lead, and they wouldn’t look back from there, taking Game 4 by a score of 5-4 and evening up the series at 2-2.
Freese has had an impressive season, batting .297 in his third year in the Majors. He went 2-for-3 last night with a double, a home run and four RBIs and he earns our “Stat Line of the Night” for Wednesday, October 5, 2011.
