Steve Smith Scores Touchdown, Proceeds To Beat Up Malcolm Jenkins (Video)
Following a three game hiatus from the end zone, Steve Smith was finally able to find paydirt during yesterday’s game, however, a few of the New Orleans Saints players were not all that pleased with the way he crossed the goal line during the first quarter of what turned out to be a fierce battle between two division rivals.
After turning a 20-yard pass from Cam Newton into a 54-yard touchdown, Smith was on the receiving end of a late hit from Saints’ safety Roman Harper, but that didn’t stop him from performing a celebratory dance in the Saints’ end zone. And once that dance was complete, it was “no more mister nice guy,” as the 5’9″ receiver grabbed a hold of Saints’ defensive back Malcolm Jenkins and manhandled him to the ground by his facemask, while players from both teams exchanged pleasantries. Harper was the only player penalized on the play.
This was just one of many incidents to unfold during an intense game that saw the Saints turn a late touchdown by Pierre Thomas into a 30-27 victory. Here is a look at the first quarter scuffle that ensued following Smith’s touchdown.
