The Reason: The Bruins beat the Hurricanes in three of their four meetings last season, including both games in Carolina.  Both teams have struggled out of the gate, as Carolina has yet to earn a victory in their first three games, while Boston has only one win in their first three contests.  Last season the Bruins were one of the best road teams in the league, going 24-12-5 away from the TD Garden.  Look for them to earn their second victory of the season on the road tonight in Carolina.

The Game: Colorado Avalanche @ Columbus Blue Jackets

The Pick: Under 5.5

The Reason: The Colorado Avalanche has entered the 2011-12 NHL season with a new-found commitment to defense, and it has been somewhat successful as they earned a 1-0 victory in Boston on Monday after suffering a 3-0 loss to the Red Wings on Saturday.  As for the Blue Jackets, two of their three games this season have gone under 5.5 goals.  Look for both teams to concentrate on playing strong defensive hockey as this game goes under the total.
