There Was A Time When No One Knew Who Tony La Russa Was (Video)
After winning two World Series Championships and four Manager of the Year awards during his 33-year career as an MLB manager, most sports fans in North America could easily identify St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony La Russa, but that hasn’t always been the case. A few decades ago, when La Russa was the youngest manager in the Majors with the Chicago White Sox, most couldn’t tell him apart from two guys who haven’t managed a game of baseball in their lives.
That may sound like an exaggeration, but it is true. And we can prove it thanks to Redditor BartoloCologne, who posted the following clip of La Russa’s appearance on the game show To Tell The Truth. The rules of the show are simple. Four celebrity contestants are given a description fitting one of the three people that are presented to them. They then have a certain amount of time to ask each of the subjects as many questions as they’d like. Once they have all had the opportunity to question the subjects, they must guess which person fits the original description.
So can these four celebrity contestants figure out who the real Tony La Russa is? Watch and find out.
