Stat Line Of The Night — 11/2/11 — Joffrey Lupul
Joffrey Lupul has struggled to find consistency during his last two seasons in the NHL, but a change of scenery and playing on a line with Phil Kessel may have been exactly what he needed in order to turn things around. The Toronto Maple Leafs’ right winger entered last night’s game against the New Jersey Devils with eleven points in eleven games, and he would add to his point-per-game average with an impressive three-goal effort.
Lupul’s hat-trick was already impressive, but what made it even more remarkable was the fact that he recorded all three goals withing a 6:42 span in the second period. His first goal would give his team the 3-2 lead, and after the Devils tied the score at 3-3, Lupul would add two more, as the Leafs escaped with the 5-3 victory.
With the win, Toronto now bumps their record to 8-3-1 on the season. They have Lupul’s hot hand to thank, as he earns the “Stat Line of the Night” for Wednesday, November 2, 2011.
