Stat Line Of The Night — 11/2/11 — Joffrey Lupul
Stat Line Of The Night — 11/3/11 — Pekka Rinne
To say that Pekke Rinne had quite the day yesterday would be an understatement. In addition to celebrating his 29th birthday, the Predators goaltender signed the biggest contract extension in team history when he was inked to a seven-year extension worth $49-million. And to top it all off, later that night he stopped all 35 shots directed his way to earn the shutout victory against the Phoenix Coyotes.
After the Predators jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period, Rinne shut the door from there, making 13 saves in the second period and another 14 in the third. The Preds would add an empty netter to cap off the 3-0 victory. The shutout was Rinne’s third of the season and it earns him “The Stat Line of the Night” for Thursday, November 3, 2011.
