Chiefs’ Jon Baldwin Made The Greatest Catch That Never Counted (Video)
Perhaps the only thing worse than taking an illegal formation penalty is doing so on the same play that one of your teammates makes what may very well be the greatest catch of the NFL season thus far…had it counted.
The Chiefs’ wide receiver Steve Breaston committed that no-no in the second quarter of their game against the Denver Broncos on Sunday, as his illegal formation penalty negated an incredible catch by rookie wideout Jon Baldwin, which saw him reach around the back of Broncos’ safety Brian Dawkins and make the grab while going to the ground.
The Chiefs could have used that yardage, as they would have been set up on the Broncos’ 20-yard line with a shot at putting up their first points of the game. Instead, they went into the half trailing 10-0 and eventually lost the game by a score of 17-10.
As a result of the penalty, you may not find Baldwin’s catch on the stat sheet, but that shouldn’t stop it from making the highlight reel. Here is another look at the greatest catch that never counted.
