Stat Line Of The Night — 11/14/11 — Aaron Rodgers
Stat Line Of The Night — 11/15/11 — Cristiano Ronaldo
After drawing 0-0 in the first leg of their play-off for the Euro 2012 Final Tournament, Portugal returned home in search of a victory against Bosnia and Herzegovina. They would get that victory in convincing fashion, as they out-classes their much lesser opponents, en route to the 6-2 win.
As you may have guessed, their offensive onslaught was led by none other than Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese captain opened the scoring in the eighth minute with a beautifully taken free kick that found its way over the wall and under the crossbar. He would find the back of the net once again in the 53rd minute, as he took a wonderfully placed ball from João Moutinho, danced around the Bosnian goaltender and slipped the ball over the goal line, giving his team the 3-1 lead. That goal would turn out to be the game-winner, as Bosnia would add one more before the Portuguese answered with another three unanswered goals in the final 20 minutes.
With the win, Portugal has punched their ticket to the Euro 2012 finals in Ukraine and Poland. Ronaldo’s goals were a key factor in their success and they have earned him “The Stat Line of the Night” for Tuesday, November 15, 2011.
