Stat Line Of The Night — 11/17/11 — Logan Thomas
With only two games remaining in their ACC regular season schedule, the Virginia Tech Hokies needed to win both games in order to secure their spot in the Conference Championship game. They were coming off a victory against No. 24-ranked Georgia Tech and next week they will meet the Virginia Cavaliers, who are chasing them for the top spot in the Costal Division. So last night’s game against the North Carolina Tar Heels could have easily been a trap game for the Hokies, but quarterback Logan Thomas wasn’t going to allow the win to slip away.
Thomas didn’t put up spectacular yardage totals, as he passed for a mediocre 195 yards and added another 32 on the ground, but he did record two passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown, accounting for 21 of the Hokies 24 points during their crucial 24-21 home victory.
The win was Virginia Tech’s sixth consecutive victory and it has them in position to play in their fifth Conference Championship game in the last six seasons. Logan Thomas has been a key factor in his team’s success and his performance on the gridiron last night earns him “The Stat Line of the Night” for Thursday, November 17, 2011.
