iron bowlOn Friday, while many Americans are enjoying their Thanksgiving weekend by eating turkey taking advantage off some great Black Friday specials, many more Americans will be parked on their couches as they take in a great slate of NCAA football games.

The marquee game of the weekend appears to be an SEC battle between #1 LSU and #3 Arkansas Friday afternoon.  However, many will argue that that game may not even be the best game on the SEC’s weekend schedule.  Instead, plenty of traditionalists will likely point to Saturday afternoon’s match-up between rivals Alabama and Auburn as the most intriguing battle this Thanksgiving weekend.

Sure, it may not be a battle between two teams ranked within the nation’s top three, but both teams are ranked in the top 25, and when you consider the lengthy history these two teams have against one another, there is no denying the fact that things can get awfully interesting at Jordan-Hare Stadium when these two teams battle it our in the Iron Bowl.

For those of you who are unaware of the history behind this rivalry, I have just the perfect thing for you; the ESPN Films special, titled “Roll Tide/War Eagle.”  I happened to catch this on television late one night a few weeks ago, and couldn’t help but sacrifice some extra sleep in order to watch it in its entirety.  If you have this Thanksgiving weekend off, I suggest you take an hour to watch it in its entirety as well.  If you like college football, you’ll love this.
