Stat Line Of The Night — 11/28/11 — Drew Brees
When you talk about the league’s best quarterbacks right now, most NFL fans will be quick to mention Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers. However, Drew Brees reminded us all last night that his name should not go without mention in such a conversation.
Brees entered the week with the most passing yards out of any quarterback in the league, and he would leave the week still on top of that category thanks to a 363 yard passing performance against the New York Giants last night. The Giants defense simply had no answer for the Saints lethal passing attack, as Brees connected with seven different receivers for at least two completions each, while throwing for four touchdowns and rushing for another during a 49-24 blowout victory.
Brees’ numbers from last night give him 3,689 passing yards on the season to go along with 27 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. While many quarterbacks would be happy to put up numbers like that throughout an entire season, Drew needed only 11 games to reach those marks. Performances like yesterday’s are a big reason why, as he earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Monday, November 28, 2011.
