Frozen Fisticuffs Fight Of The Night — Vitale vs. Campbell — 12/5/11
When the Boston Bruins traveled to Pittsburgh last night to take on Sidney Crosby and the Penguins, many watched in anticipation of perhaps seeing this match-up once again in the playoffs, during the Eastern Conference finals. With the Bruins and Pens currently occupying the top two positions in the Eastern Conference, the players seemed to think that a playoff match-up would be a very real possibility, and it showed, as both teams engaged in a very chippy, playoff style game that saw plenty of altercations, and a few fights as well.
The best fight of the game came in the third period, when the Pens’ Joe Vitale dropped the gloves with the Bruins’ Gregory Campbell. In addition to being the best fight of this game, their bout would also be the best that the NHL had to offer on Monday, as it earns our “Frozen Fisticuffs Fight of the Night” for December 5, 2011.
