Hits to the head seem to be getting all of the attention in the NHL these days, as it almost feels like chief disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan has had a different case to review each day.
Shanny may have another “head-shot” to review following last night’s game between the Ottawa Senators and the Washington Capitals. However, this head-shot, which Alex Ovechkin delivered on Chris Neil, wasn’t the type that typically causes concussions. Instead, it was the type of head-shot that is capable of causing erectile dysfunction.
Whether or not this type of head-shot is penalized in a similar manner to the other head-shots that we have become accustomed to seeing in the game of hockey remains to be seen.
