Stat Line Of The Night — 12/21/11 — Claude Giroux
When Claude Giroux went out with a concussion a few weeks ago, some feared that the injury could develop into something that will hamper the Flyers forward for the remainder of the season. While the long-term impact of the injury still remains to be seen, it didn’t seem like the injury had affected him even the slightest bit in the short term when he made his return to the ice last night against the Dallas Stars.
Giroux played only 15:15 in his return, but that was all the ice time he would need to record one goal and three assists on the night. After opening the scoring for the Flyers in the first period, he added assists on his team’s following three goals as they would cruise to the 4-1 victory.
Much like Sidney Crosby, Giroux was also able to put up a four-point performance in his first game back from a concussion. Hopefully he doesn;’t follow in Crosby’s footsteps once again by re-aggravating the his head injury a few weeks from now. And in addition to matching Sid’s comeback totals, Giroux also grabbed a hold of the NHL points lead and earned himself “the Stat Line of the Night” for Wednesday, December 21, 2011.
