gorgeous women hot tennis players australian open 2012

The 2012 Australian Open has begun down in Melbourne, and a new tennis season is now officially underway. In celebration, I thought it would be nice to bring you a list of hot tennis players, which always seems to go over pretty well.

However, I thought maybe everyone would be tired of the same old, same old. So instead of yet another list populated by the Sharapovas and the Wozniackis and the Ivanovices—some of the most googled female athletes in the world—I decided to a do a list of gorgeous tennis players at the Aussie Open that you’ve never even heard of. (Yes, hardcore tennis fans, I know you’ve heard of them. But I’m appealing to the masses here, so give me a break.)

So, without further ado…click away.

15. Olga Govortsova

Olga Govortsova

Country: Belarus
Age: 23 (August 23, 1988)
Singles Ranking: 114
Doubles Ranking: 45

Olga is an interesting name. I’m sure it’s totally normal (and probably considered “pretty”) in the various languages to which it is native. In English, it calls to mind a big, brutish woman with a hairy upper lip. Buy maybe this; Olga can help disavow us of that connotation.

14. Nuria Llagostera Vives

Nuria Llagostera Vives

Country: Spain
Age: 31 (May 16, 1980)
Singles Ranking: 132
Doubles Ranking: 26

Fact: Spanish women are 35% hotter than women from any other country.

Don’t argue with me. It’s science.

13. Tsvetana Pironkova

Tsvetana Pironkova

Country: Bulgaria
Age: 24 (September 13, 1987)
Singles Ranking: 47
Doubles Ranking: 338

It would be nice if Tsvetana here could climb the rankings and get more time on television. But at 24 years of age, she’s probably as good as she’s ever going to get. Oh well.

12. Stephanie Foretz Gacon

Stephanie Foretz Gacon

Country: France
Age: 30 (May 3, 1981)
Singles Ranking: 107
Doubles Ranking: 196

In this photo, Stephanie is rocking the sexy librarian look. Take away those glasses and…well, I guess she’d still be pretty hot. But the glasses give her a unique look. (Except when she plays in bright sunlight. Then you discover they are transition lenses, and suddenly she looks like an old lady. Which is sad.)

11. Jarmila Gajdosova

jarmila gajdosova

Country: Australia
Age: 24 (April 26, 1987)
Singles Ranking: 39
Doubles Ranking: 40

You didn’t expect this woman to be from Australia with that name, did you? But it’s a big cosmopolitan country, so not everyone is of British descent.

10. Iveta Benesova

Iveta Benesova

Country: Czech Republic
Age: 28 (February 1, 1983)
Singles Ranking: 46
Doubles Ranking: 33

This Czech beauty is 28, so there’s no telling how much longer she’ll be around. Enjoy he tennis skills (and attractive figure) while you can.

9. Anne Keothavong

Anne Keothavong

Country: Great Britain
Age: 28 (September, 16 1983)
Singles Ranking: 73
Doubles Ranking: 143

Anne Keothavong was Britain’s #1 female tennis player for a long time, yet she was never ranked higher than #48 in the world. That right there tells you all you need to know about the state of women’s tennis in Britain.

On the bright side, at least this Londoner of Laotian descent has a certain exotic beauty.

8. Bethanie Mattek-Sands

Bethanie Mattek-Sands

Country: USA
Age: 26 (March 23, 1985)
Singles Ranking: 67
Doubles Ranking: 17

Boobs are sure-fire way to make sure you appear on lists of sexy tennis players. Bethanie Mattek-Sands knows this maxim all too well. As does every ball boy on the WTA tour.

7. Mathilde Johansson

Mathilda Johansson

Country: France
Age: 26 (April 28, 1985)
Singles Ranking: 74
Doubles Ranking: 977

Mathilde may be a resident of France, but she was born in Sweden, which explains why she is so attractive.

I mean no offense to the French, of course; I think even they would agree that Scandinavian women are just gorgeous.

6. Sorana Cirstea

Sorana Cirstea

Country: Romania
Age: 21 (April 7, 1990)
Singles Ranking: 59
Doubles Ranking: 64

We may not be able to consider this Romanian player an “unknown” for too much longer. She’s currently ranked #59, but at only 21 years old, there is still time for her to up her game and rise in the rankings.

5. Anna Tatishvili

Anna Tatishvili

Country: Georgia
Age: 21 (February, 3 1990)
Singles Ranking: 83
Doubles Ranking: 75

Note to the geographically challenged: Anna is from Georgia the country (which is over there between Russia and Turkey), not Georgia the state. Which is great, because now you know something about the nation of Georgia (i.e., that there’s this really hot Georgian tennis player named Anna Tatishvili).

4. Yaroslava Shvedova

Yaroslava Shvedova

Country: Kazakhstan
Age: 24 (September 12, 1987)
Singles Ranking: 208
Doubles Ranking: 5

So it turns out that not all women from Kazakhstan are ugly.

I guess that means Borat was satire and not intended to be taken too seriously. Who knew?

3. Isabella Holland

Isabella Holland

Country: Australia
Age: 20 (January 2, 1992)
Singles Ranking: 181
Doubles Ranking: 283

Two of the top three unknown hotties at the Aussie Open this year are from Australia. Obviously, they’re doing something right down under. #3 Isabella, here, may be ranked pretty low, but she’s still relatively young. Maybe this will be the year she takes her game to the next level.

2. Bojana Bobusic

Bojana Bobusic

Country: Australia
Age: 24 (October 2, 1987)
Singles Ranking: 242
Doubles Ranking: 386

When I saw Bojana Bobusic was ranked #242, I didn’t give up hope. I thought, hey, maybe she’s a really good doubles player (like #4 Yaroslava Shvedova).

But no. She’s ever worse at doubles, which is a huge disappointment for fans of really good-looking tennis stars.

1. Julia Goerges

Julia Goerges

Country: Germany
Age: 23 (November 2, 1988)
Singles Ranking: 23
Doubles Ranking: 38

Okay, tennis fans have undoubtedly heard of Julia Goerges. After all, she got all the way up to #16 this past summer. But I do think she is still a relative unknown.

In any case, this is a pretty big upset, having a German and not an Eastern European at the top of a sexy tennis player list. But what can I say, Goerges is Gorgeous.

And with that pun, it’s time to call it a day.
