15 Hottest Women To Perform The National Anthem At The Super Bowl

hottest women to perform the national anthem super bowl

Getting asked to sing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl is quite an honor. It doesn’t necessarily mean you’re any good (right, Backstreet Boys?), but it does mean you’re really famous and that somebody thought millions of people would enjoy watching you lip-sync. With the 2012 Super Bowl (aka Super Bowl XLVI) coming up in just a few days, I thought we’d take a stroll down memory lane and look at some of the most notable National Anthem performers in the history of America’s favorite game.

And of course by “most notable” I mean “hottest.”

So here you go: a list of 15 hot women who sang the National Anthem at the Super Bowl.

15. Vikki Carr

Here’s some Super Bowl trivia for you: there have been 45 Super Bowls but only 44 performances of the National Anthem. So what gives?

In 1977, I guess they figured hey, let’s try something different. So they had Vikki Carr perform America the Beautiful instead of the Star Spangled Banner.

Whose Vikki Carr? A singer. Don’t worry about it; you’ve never heard of anything she’s ever done. But she was relatively attractive.

14. Anita Bryant

Anita Bryant sang the National Anthem before Super Bowl III in 1969. At the time she was a popular singer, but that’s not what she’s known for (if she’s known at all) today. No, in the 1970s Bryant became the spokesperson for the anti-gay rights movement, and her antics were featured prominently in the film Milk.

Nice, huh?

13. Diana Ross

Today Diana Ross is 67 and looking a little worse for wear. But in 1982, when she performed the National Anthem at Super Bowl XVI, she was only 38 and still looking pretty good. (Probably not as good as she looked in this photo but, still, good.)

12. Christina Aguilera

Christina’s rendition of the National Anthem at last year’s Super Bowl was bad—probably the worst I or anyone else can remember. And of course, she’s not looking quite as hot as she used to. But I’m a positive person, and I choose to remember the good times (when she was a good singer and really sexy).

11. Whitney Houston

Before Bobby Brown and all the drugs took their toll on poor Whitney, she used to be freakin gorgeous. She was also one of the greatest pop singers of all time, which is why they asked her to sing the National Anthem at Super Bowl XXV in 1991. The performance was a huge hit, the only one to ever be released as a single.

10. Dixie Chicks

While all three of the Dixie Chicks are attractive women, there’s no doubt that Emily Robinson (the brunette) is the hottest. Still, when the Chicks performed the National Anthem at the Super Bowl in 2003, you really had to consider it a three-for-one deal. So rather than single out Robinson for this list, I just included the whole band.

9. Leslie Easterbrook

You probably remember Leslie Easterbrook as the busty blonde no-nonsense lady cop (Sgt. Callahan) from the Police Academy movies. But before that she was a somewhat well-known TV actress, and also an accomplished singer. That’s why she sang the National Anthem at Super Bowl XVII in 1983—one year before Police Academy came out. (What ever happened to Steve Gutenberg, anyway?)

8. Jewel

Folk-turned-pop singer Jewel got the nod to perform the Anthem in 1998 because she had the biggest single of that year, “Who Will Save Your Soul.” Remember that song? Sure you do…if you’re over the age of 25.

Anyway, she’s always taken a lot of flack for her misaligned teeth, which are unfortunate. But she does have an excellent set of…eyes. Right?

7. Jennifer Hudson

Jennifer Hudson

Jennifer Hudson gave a stirring rendition of the National Anthem in 2009. It was all the more powerful given the fact that everyone watching knew it was her first public performance since her mother, brother, and nephew were brutally murdered. So you had to hand it to Hudson for a job well done.

You also have to hand it to her from turning herself into a cute girl into a downright foxy woman over the last several years. Nice work, Jennifer.

6. Carrie Underwood

Mrs. Mike Fisher, one of the hottest WAGs in the NHL, performed the National Anthem at Super Bowl XLIV in 2010. I have no recollection of whether it was any good, but that’s okay. It means she didn’t screw it up like Christina Aguilera.

5. Vanessa L. Williams

Vanessa L. Williams sang the Anthem back in 1996, before she had to add the “L” to her name to distinguish her from some other actress. The game was Super Bowl XXX, which was perfect for a woman who had to resign as Miss American in 1985 after it was revealed she had appeared in Playboy.

Obviously, Vanessa overcame the Miss America scandal and has gone on to have a great career as a singer and actress. Plus, she’s still hot to this day.

4. Faith Hill

Faith Hill performed at Super Bowl XXXIV in 2000. Why on earth they haven’t had this woman perform the National Anthem more than once (when Billy Joel has performed it twice) is beyond me. But I guess we should all be thankful for what we’ve got.

3. Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey has been kind of up and down in recent years, both vocally and in terms of her physical appearance. But you have to admit that when she’s on her game, it’s tough to find someone sexier than Mariah.

Oh, right, and she sang the National Anthem before Super Bowl XXXVI in 2002.

2. Cheryl Ladd

You know Cheryl Ladd was one of the original Charlie’s Angels (or if you didn’t, you do now). But did you also know she was an aspiring musician? Unfortunately, that plane never really took off—although she did get to perform the National Anthem at Super Bowl XIV in 1980. So that’s something.

1. Beyoncé

Beyoncé, who somehow manages to just get hotter and hotter year after year, performed the National Anthem at Super Bowl XXXVIII in 2004.

This photo is from her music video for “Best Thing I Never Had.” If you haven’t watched it, I feel sorry for you. In fact, you know what? Here it is:
