Stat Line Of The Night — 2/1/12 — Henrik Lundqvist
Stat Line Of The Night — 2/2/12 — Sam Gagner
Prior to last night, the Edmonton Oilers’ record for most points in a game was held by two of the greatest players to ever play the game; Paul Coffey and Wayne Gretzky. Following last night’s game against the Chicago Blackhawks, they now find themselves sharing that record with a somewhat unlikely third member of the Oilers.
Playing on the team’s top line with Jordan Eberle and Taylor Hall, 22-year-old forward Sam Gagner made the most of his opportunity, as he recorded points on each of his team’s eight goals during their 8-4 victory. Four of those points came via goals (with three of them coming in the third period), while his other four points were assists. It was the first time an NHL player has recorded eight points in a single game since Mario Lemieux did it on December 31, 1988, and it earns Gagner the “Stat Line of the Night” for Thursday, February 1, 2012.
Here is a look at Gagner receiving the first, second and third star of the game.
