The Daily Gambling Fix — 2/28/12 — Jessica Vardinsky
The Game: Los Angeles Kings @ Minnesota Wild
The Reason: Despite trading for Jeff Carter, the Los Angeles Kings proved that scoring is still a problem for them, as they were dealt a 2-1 loss at Nashville last night. The Kings have gone under the total in both games since acquiring Carter, and in their past 19 games they have gone under the total 12 times, with just two overs and five pushes. Nine of the last 11 meetings between these two teams in Minnesota have gone under the total. With the Wild scoring just 2.24 goals per game while giving up 2.63 against, look for both teams to struggle offensively as this game goes under the total.
The Game: Michigan State @ Indiana
The Reason: With two games remaining in the Big Ten season, the Spartans need just one more win to claim top spot in the conference ahead of Ohio State. With their final game coming against the Buckeyes, look for Michigan State to be hungry for the victory tonight against Indiana, rather than allowing it to come down to their final game. The Spartans are an impressive 13-3 in Big Ten play this season, and although Indiana can be a tough place to play (the Hoosiers have lost just one game there all season), the Spartans have shown that they can win tough games away from home, as they have already beaten Ohio State and Wisconsin on the road. Look for them to add Indiana to that list as they clinch the Big Ten title with a victory tonight.
