wind-assisted own goalHere is a word of advice for all soccer goalkeepers out there.  If you ever find yourself playing in a windstorm, are are awarded a goal kick, keep it on the ground.  Doing so will probably help you avoid the embarrassment of a wind-assisted own goal.

Maccabi Haifa goalkeeper Assaf Mendes was the latest to learn that lesson firsthand, as he sent the ball into an incredibly strong gust of wind during a friendly match against Dynamo Kiev earlier today.  Seconds later he found himself grabbing the ball out of his own goal.

According to the guys at Dirty Tackle, the ball wasn’t the only thing getting blown around during this match.  At one point one do the goals also began to fly away.

Here’s a look at the wind-assisted own goal.
