Canadiens’ Erik Cole High-Fives Referee After Goal (Video)
Heading into last night’s game against the Ottawa Senators, the Montreal Canadiens’ Erik Cole had celebrated 26 goals on the season. After slipping a rebound past Sens goalie Ben Bishop in the opening period, he celebrated his 27th goal of the season in a slightly different manner than his previous 26, as he high-fived the referee in the corner before embracing the hugs of his teammates.
Cole didn’t appear to realize that the referee was lifting his arm to signal the goal, and not to high-five him, but being the respectful guy that he is, the Habs’ forward didn’t want to take any chances and leave Greg Kimmerly hanging.
The Habs would go on to record the 3-2 shootout victory. Here is a look at Cole celebrating his goal by high-fiving the official.
