Stat Line Of The Night — 3/13/12 — Andrew Bynum
Stat Line Of The Night — 3/14/12 — Cam Ward
Having won nine of their previous eleven games heading into last night’s contest, it almost seemed as though it would take a superhuman effort from the Canes in order for them to escape with the victory. Luckily for Carolina, they would get the superhuman effort they needed from their goaltender, Cam Ward.
The Blues may be the top team in the league at the moment, but last night they were the second best team on the ice thanks to Ward’s brilliant performance, as he stopped all 40 shots he faced. Fifteen of those saves came in the third period, as a desperate Blues team threw everything they had towards the Hurricanes’ goal, but none of those attempts were good enough to beat Ward on this night.
The 2011-12 season has been a busy one for Ward, as he has faced the second-most shots among all NHL goaltenders. He was under a barrage of shots once again last night, but he had an answer for every one of them and because of it he earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Thursday, March 14, 2012.
